Lost something? Found something? We help you connect with the right person.
Lost-it is a global online platform that connects people who have lost their belongings with those who have found lost items, facilitating communication and helping return lost property to its rightful owners.
1. Search for an Item
Start by searching the Platform for an item you have lost or found.
Browse lost and found reports, or use the available search and filtering options to narrow results by category, country, city, and location.
2. Create Your Account
Register for a free account to publish reports, communicate with other users, and manage your listings.
Provide the required registration information and complete email verification when prompted.
3. Post a Lost or Found Item
If you have lost an item: Create a report in the Lost Items section.
If you have found an item: Create a report in the Found Items section.
Select the appropriate category, provide a clear description, specify the approximate location where the item was lost or found, and upload relevant photographs when available.
Reports may be reviewed by the Platform's administration before becoming visible to other users.
4. Connect With Other Users
When you find a report that may match the item you are looking for, open it to review the available details.
Sign in and use the communication options available on the Platform, such as internal messaging or contact information, to communicate with the other party.
Avoid publicly sharing sensitive personal information.
5. Verify Ownership and Arrange a Safe Return
Before handing over any item, make sure the person claiming it can provide reasonable evidence of ownership.
Agree on a safe location for the handover, preferably a public place, and comply with applicable local laws governing found property.
Lost-it facilitates communication between users but does not independently verify ownership or supervise the physical exchange of items.
6. Close the Report After Recovery
Once you have recovered your lost item or successfully returned a found item to its owner, update the report's status to indicate that the case has been resolved.
You may also share your positive experience to encourage others to help reunite lost belongings with their rightful owners.
Is Lost-it Free to Use?
Yes. Lost-it is currently free to use.
Users may voluntarily offer financial rewards for the recovery of lost belongings. Any reward arrangements are agreed upon directly between the parties involved, without Lost-it collecting, processing, or guaranteeing reward payments.
Optional paid services may be introduced in the future, with applicable prices and terms clearly disclosed before users subscribe or make a purchase.
Your Safety First
Your safety and privacy are among our top priorities.
Protect your personal information, avoid advance payments, verify ownership before handing over items, and choose safe public locations when arranging returns.
If you find official identification documents, suspicious items, or potentially dangerous property, please contact the appropriate authorities in accordance with local laws.
